A Milestone
I took you to see Grandma and Papa this afternoon. While we were there I thought some tummy time would be good for you. Right as I was telling them how you have been attempting to roll from your tummy to back for a week with no success guess what you did. Thats right you rolled over all on your own, we all saw it. After that you didn't want to do it again and got really fussy. It didn't matter to me I'm just so thrilled that you did it and your great grandparents were there to witness it. You go boy! posted by anonymous

How Time Flies
You my dear boy are 11 weeks old today. I can't believe how quickly time is rolling by. I can remember almost every detail of your birth as if it were yesterday. Also, let me tell you 11 weeks of pregnancy never seemed to go by this fast. You are growing like a weed. I can't even recognize that tiny baby you were when you were born. Now you like to smile and laugh at me and daddy whenever you get the chance. You are also starting to fill out physically. You have a bit of a belly and some of what Grandpa would call 'thunder thighs'. I think its cute on you though, it just makes you look so grown up like a little boy not a baby.
Three weeks from tomorrow we start our normal life routine of work and day care. I am going about this with mixed feelings. I am going a bit nutty at home, but love being here with you. How will I be able to concentrate on work everyday when I would rather be hanging out with my favorite boy? This transition is going to be a rough one and I appologize in advance to whomever encounters me during it. posted by anonymous

Day Care
Yesterday you and I went up to the Universal Child Care Center to meet everyone and see your new classroom. Much to my delight you really seem to like it there. While I was filling out paperwork they fed you your bottle and walked you around the room. You were giggling and smiling the whole time. I really feel much much better about leaving you. I also am impressed that their teaching philosphy is very similar to our parenting style. They want you to learn through play and exploration plus they treat you with respect and don't use babytalk (a pet peeve of mine). There are five other babies in your class (4 girls and 1 boy) all of them seem so interested in their surroundings. This weekend Grandma Linda and I are going to go shopping to get all your school gear. You would not believe the list they gave me plus I have to make an earthquake kit for you and a family board poster to hang in the room. We also have to have a family portrait taken for the school to display as a welcome for us. There is so much to do. I know that this school will become a huge undertaking for me too. The parents are really involved with the school and we are required to keep a journal of your activites on weekends (you teacher will do it during the week). All I can say is I am so happy you got a spot at the school I know how long the waiting list is and I feel so lucky! posted by anonymous

All Partied Out
Yesterday Caleb attended his first birthday party. He had such a great time looking around at all the decorations and pretty girls dressed as princesses (it was a 4 year old girls party). He was so good being passed around to everyone who wanted to hold him. Surprisingly he wasn't the youngest person there. There was a beautiful abby girl who was only 3 weeks old. Needless to say people were trying to make a love connection already. I seriously think Caleb was overstimulated and only managed about one hour of nap the entire day. Last night he went to sleep at 11:30 and didn't wake up until 8:15 this morning. Poor baby was partied out.
Yesterday I celebrated my first Mother's Day, it was a very special day. It all started on Saturday when Daddy bought me flowers while we were out shopping. The Sunday morning when I went to feed you I found a card and this tucked inside your crib. It was so early in the morning (5am) I didn't have the energy to look at them. When you woke up at 8am Daddy brought you to my room and you had the necklace in your hand. It was so sweet. After I got out of bed and ready to start the day we went downstairs for my favorite breakfast (bagels & lox).
The main joy of my day was Daddy took care of you for most of it. I don't know what you guys were up to, but there was a diaper incident where he was changing you and somehow you managed to pee on yourself not once but twice. I didn't see it happen, but know it did because boy did you smell bad last night. You needed another bath. Regardless you must have had a good time last night because you are still sleeping now. Thanks guys for a special first Mother's Day! posted by anonymous

Caleb @ Two Months
Today we went to Caleb's 2 month doctor appointment. Let me just say that my little man is growing like a weed. He weighed in at 12lb 11oz (75th percentile) and is 24" long (90th percentile). Aside from some minor cradle cap on his forehead the doctor was really happy with his growth and development. He's really active and she said she wouldn't be entirely surprised if he starts crawling before six months.
The hardest part of todays visit were his shots. Normally there are a set of 4 shots given and two and four months, however yesterday the HMO switched to a new shot which comes in three doses instead. My baby was spared one needle...yay! He handled it like a trooper (better than me) and is in a bit of pain now, but Tylenol is working beautifully.
Last but not least we got the best news today. Caleb was accepted into the Childrens Center at my work for June. We were originally told he wouldn't be able to get in until September because of his spot on the waiting list (which he has been on since Sept 2002). I am so excited that I don't have to look for interim day care. This is seriously a huge weight off my back. I am really happy with the Childrens Center and am confident he'll be treated well and have a great time. posted by anonymous

Do you know what today is?
It's May 1st. That means I have to go back to work next month!! Oh it makes me sad to think my maternity leave is winding down and I will soon (49 days to be exact) have to leave my pride and joy in the hands of a stranger in order to go work. posted by anonymous
