Class Dismissed
Last night we made it through our first Expectant Parent class. Daddy was a trooper sitting through a two hour lecture about breast feeding in a room full of pregnant woman and a handful of husbands. The class was informative, though I feel the instructor was just a bit too gung ho about nursing. We have decided to give it a whirl at least for a little while and see how it goes. There are so many benefits from it we want you to have, so I am going to have to set my personal feelings about it aside and concentrate on your needs. You seemed to like the class (or the Greek food I had for dinner) because you were moving around a lot while we were sitting in the auditorium. You are still really high up today and you kindly moved off my sciatic nerve. Aside from my aching feet walking feels pretty darn good today.
By the way I accomplished some important tasks over the past 24 hours. I called Lifecare and they are creating a list of day care centers around my work and our house that accept infants. I need a backup plan in case we don't get into the children's center here on the lot. I should have the list next week and can start calling around and checking places out soon. I also created our birth plan this morning. I used an interactive online tool that was wonderful and made it so very easy. Daddy and I are going to bring it to our appointment next week. My next project is to find a Pediatrician for you. So much to be done, so little time left. posted by anonymous

Back To School
Tonight Daddy & I start our Expectant Parent classes at the hospital. The lecture tonight is about breast feeding. While I am interested in learning more on the topic I was not aware that there was enough information to fill a two hour session. The class doesn't start until 7pm and by the time we get home (hefty 30 mile drive) it will be at least 9:30pm. I am usually in my pj's by 6pm and in bed watching TV no later than 9pm. Its going to be tough adjusting my schedule for these classes. At least it is only four weeks, one of which I will be on maternity leave.
No too much else is going on with us. Daddy is going to go with me to my next doctor appointment (Friday 02/07). He hasn't been to one before and will get to hear your heartbeat for the first time. I am very excited about that. posted by anonymous

It's Raining It's Pouring
Well the title of this entry doesn't quite hit the nail on the head. When I say raining I am referring to the wonderful shower Auntie Steph threw for me yesterday. It was such a great day. About 20+ people turned out to honor you and celebrate the day. We walked away with TONS of great gear for you including two handmade blankets which are lovely. Even Grandma & Grandpa C got creative and made you a gift basket filled with all sorts of goodies. It looked very professional. As always Auntie outdid herself and threw a successful party and I think (hope) everyone went home having had a great time.
Now to the weather report. I had bought myself a cute new outfit that consisted of pants, a t-shirt, and a knit blazer. Well who knew it would be 80 degrees at the end of January. I didn't get to wear the blazer and when I came home I had to put shorts and a t-shirt on right away. I have another shower planned for next Saturday and the outfit I have prepared is long sleeves. I hope the weather cools down by then.
Well it is 6:20am and you have been an active one this morning, keeping me from sleeping. I am exhausted from our long day yesterday and I still have three weeks of work left. Please let me get some rest. I am absolutely starving and too darn lazy to walk downstairs for food. I think I am going to go lie down and let the sounds of my growling stomach lul me to sleep. posted by anonymous

What A Sweet Daddy
Today Daddy decided to come visit me at work for lunch. I asked for a burger and shake from In-N-Out and he brought it to me. That was the sweetest thing. You seem to be growing and I am very very uncomfortable today. Daddy knew this and did what he could to make me feel better. I still feel icky but am glad I got to spend my lunch time with Daddy, it was a nice treat. posted by anonymous

Beached Whale
I had Daddy snap a picture of me on the digital camera last night and then compared it to my 20 week picture (I'm 32 weeks now). Oh my god am I HUGE!!! I had no idea I had gotten so large, I can't possibly imagine what I will look like at 40 weeks...yikes. If you want to see the pics send me an email and I'll forward you a link. posted by anonymous

Completed Nursery & A New Toy For Mommy
Your nursery is just about done, all we need are the goodies from the shower and you will be all set. I really like how the room came out. I have created an Ofoto gallery of pictures. To see them click here. Also, we broke down today and bought a good digital camera so I can take a zillion pictures of you when you arrive. All the pictures posted today were taken with our new camera. Not too shabby huh? posted by anonymous

Oh Happy Day
The painter came this morning and your room now has a fresh coat of blue paint on the walls. I love it. Daddy and I are going to go buy a curtain rob to hang your valance and he'll put your crib together tonight. I can't believe your room is almost ready for you to move in. I am still hunting for the perfect quilt hanger and bookshelf, but otherwise your ready to go. I also hung the adorable Rainbow Fish picture Auntie Steph gave you in the bathroom. I am going to pick up some fun colorful bathroom accessories to match it since the ones we had before are way too grownup for your taste. Have I mentioned that I am SOOOO excited??? posted by anonymous

Our 31 Week Appointment
Everything at todays appointment went great. You are measuring on schedule and your heartbeat was pounding away. My blood pressure was good and the results of my bloodwork taken last month were excellent. The midwife was impressed. I mentioned my concern with my ankle swelling and sciatica pain, but she wasn't too concerned. All she said was "at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel". I am now on to appointments every two weeks and by the end of February we'll be going in every week.
At our 37 week appointment (if you are still baking then) we'll have another ultrasound to see how much you weigh. At that time they will set up an induction date in case you don't decide to make your entrance on your own.
I also saw Grandma C today and she bought you some adorable outfits. One of them is going to be what you wear to your first photographer visit. I can't wait to see you all dressed up for pictures. Soon my little man, we will meet very soon. posted by anonymous

You've Gone And Done It
You gave your mother my first grey hair. I was in the ladies room here at work and peeked up to see one shiny grey hair staring back at me. You kow I pulled that puppy out. Hopefully that was just a playful joke on your part..ha ha. Lets try to keep my hair its natural color for a few more years, I am way to young to go grey.
Were off to our doctor appointment in a few minutes. I'm going to see if they can estimate how big you are at this point and I am also going to talk to them about my ankles and sciatica pain. I'm really uncomfortable these days. We'll see what they say. posted by anonymous

I'm Starved
I was just looking over some of the search queries that brought people to this site. I noticed one from this past weekend:
12 Jan, Sun, 14:27:00 Yahoo: pregnancy + chinese food
Mmmmm Chinese food sounds really tasty right about now. Are there any places that deliver at 4:30am?
Warning this is a big time vent. It is now 4:15am and here I am wide awake, my legs and back are killing me and getting comfortable doesn't seem to be an option. Anyway that is not the point of this post. This is again about the RUDE people who ride the commuter train. Last night on the way home from work there was this girl who must have been no older than 19 chatting on her cell phone when the train pulled up. She was in such a rush to get on the train she practically pushed me out of her way and then proceeded to jump into the last open chair. Did she so much as look up at me and acknowledge what she had done? NO!! Apparently her parents didn't teach her any manners. So I proceed to stand by the door and a kind gentleman (who was also standing) checked and found there was an available seat on an upper level. I go to sit down and the visibly unhappy woman sitting across from me would not move her legs to allow me to sit forward in the seat. I sat there twisted for about three minutes and decided I would be much more comfortable standing. And so it went I stood by the door until the next station stop. There were about 50 people sitting comfortably staring at the woman who was 7 months pregnant trying to keep her balance. All I can say is I am looking forward to next month when Daddy starts driving me to work. Who knew riding the train would be so stressful. posted by anonymous

Scaring Grandma
I guess we gave Grandma C quite a scare this afternoon. Apparently she was trying to call me at work for some time (she didn't leave a message) and got very worried when I didn't answer. I was outside eating lunch with Auntie (who had the day off). When Grandma finally got me on the phone she sounded frantic. It was cute, but it is way too soon for her to panic when I don't answer the phone. What is she going to be like in a few weeks...oy vey!
In other news we are 31 weeks today, only 9 weeks to go. It's getting close. posted by anonymous

Will You're Nursery Ever Be Done?
My hopes of getting your room finished this weekend were shattered. The painter had to work and didn't come over. I was so frustrated because I am used to people calling when they can't be somewhere. This guy didn't call at all. Finally on Sunday I had Grandpa call and the painter said he would be there next Saturday...grr!! Daddy and I make a special trip on Friday night to pick up your crib and buy the mattress so we could assemble it this past weekend. Instead it is leaning againt the railing of the stairs in the loft for a week. I can't wait to put it together and see what it looks like in your room.
Also, Grandma and Grandpa C brought over a baby doll for us to use to start training the cats and dog how to behave when you come home. I admit I feel weird walking around the house talking to a doll, but if it helps I'm willing to try anything. I hope you guys all get along. I know Monty will be an excellent big brother to you. As for Fluffy and Tasha, well we'l have to wait and see. posted by anonymous

You're Nursery Will Be Done After All
This evening Grandpa C sent over a painter to give an estimate on painting your room. Looks like he'll be here on Saturday to do the job (yay). Also, we are going to pick up your crib and put it together this weekend. Daddy agreed to make your room priority this weekend so it looks like the nursery will be done in just a few days. I am soooo excited. That will leave me with one weekend off before my first baby shower. Now everything is starting to come together. Once your room is assembled I'm sure everything will start feeling more real. posted by anonymous

It's Getting Closer
I turned in my paperwork yesterday for my maternity leave. My last day at work is 02/14 and I will return probably sometime in early June. I can't believe that I have less than six weeks of work left before my leave...Yahh Hooo!! I am taking four full weeks off before yourt expected arrival. I asked Daddy this morning what I should do with that time and his idea was to clean the house...uhhhh no! I know I am going to spend the last two weeks at Grandma & Grandpa's house everyday in case I go into labor and need a ride to the hospital. This is when living 30 miles from the hospital becomes a problem. Since Grandma already works at the hospital I will need to find another ride. If I am hanging out at G & G's house then either Grandpa or Auntie Steph can drive me since they work two miles away. I'm getting anxious to know when you are going to make your appearance. Will you be early, on time, or late?
Another sign that this pregnancy is coming to its end is that in the past week people have started asking when I am due. Apparently I have "popped" and am now officially HUGE. Even Daddy expressed concern that he didn't think I could get much bigger. And Grandma Linda assured me that I will be "big as a house" by the time all is said and done. The scary part is that I am only 30 weeks along (as of yesterday), tem more weeks to go. posted by anonymous
