After reading Kerry's blog entry yesterday about the disappearing travel system on her Babies R'Us registry I thought I should check ours out just to be safe. I noticed that the first item has officially been purchased off the registry....how exciting. Shower invites were just mailed this week and I had no idea people would be out shopping so quickly. Just knowing that someone went out and bought baby gear for you suddenly makes everything seem more real. I can't wait for my showers. posted by anonymous

Quite The Performer
You just put on a show for one of my co-workers. I was leaning back in a chair and he was able to see my belly move when you did. It kind of creaped him out, but it was really neat. You have been highly active the past couple of days. Its mainly been near my belly button (vs your normal lower right kicks) which is taking some getting used to.
I hope you are finding the accommodations comfortable and will stay put for another couple of months. I can't believe we have only 11 weeks left as of tomorrow. You'll be here before we know it.
Being that the storm which hit last night passed through early and left us with a beautiful (yet chilly) day today Daddy & I decided to venture out of the house. He took me to breakfast then to look as a new housing development on the other side of town. Back in the day we could tour many developments in a day with energy left over. Today I was only able to make it through three before I needed a nap. You seemed really active too, maybe voicing your opinion on the floor plans and decor. Personally I have yet to find one as nice as the one we have now, though we're always looking. Anyway I must go rest now if I am going to try to make it to Grandma and Grandpa's anniversary dinner tonight. posted by anonymous

Tis The Season To Be Sleeping
For some reason I can not get enough sleep these days. I took a two hour nap yesterday and still slept in an extra 2.5 hours this morning. I think you must be going through some crazy growth spurt because I have been hungry too. Today is Christmas and we are going to have dinner with Auntie Stephs family. I can't wait for all the yummy food...mmmm.
It is so exciting how many people I know who are having babies in 2003. I found out last night that our neighbor across the street is expecting her first in August (a playmate for you). I have another friend who is due to have her baby anytime now (literally). And I have heard rumors about yet another unannounced pregnancy which I will not speak of until I know for sure. I am so happy for everyone and its great to know that you'll have tons of friends your age.
In other news today we are officially 28 weeks along that means only 84 days left until March 18. I haven't posted this in a long time...here is what you are up to this week according to Baby Center. posted by anonymous

Note To Self...
If I ever want to wake the baby all I have to do is eat a Krispy Kreme donut with orange juice. Wow have you been active since I ate breakfast. So active it's making me nauseaous. Can you at least shift positions?? Please. posted by anonymous

We Passed The Test
I just called and got the results of my glucose tolerance test (for Gestational Diabetes). My result was 101 mg/dl and anything below 140 mg/dl is considered normal/ I am so happy that I passed and do not have to take the three hour test. Also, with all the diabetes in my side of the family it is comforting to know I am in the clear for now. Woosh! Let celebrate and eat some chocolate (ha ha). posted by anonymous

The Home Stretch
Today is a very important milestone for us. We are now officially in the third (and final) trimester. I have been pregnant for the past six month and in less than half that time you will be here with me. I am still under the weather with this nasty cold. I think I will spare my co-workers of my germs and stay home today to rest. Tomorrow afternoon I have my monthly doctor apoointment. I am looking forward to this visit because I am worried about you. Since I have had my cold you have not been moving around as much as before. I miss feeling you squirm and wiggle. You still do on occasion, but not nearly as much. The only downside to this visit is the lab work. I have to take the one hour diabetes test (where you drink orange goop wait an hour and then have blood drawn) and a blood count done. Nothing like having tubes of blood drained from you on a Wednesday afternoon. As Grandma C says, I need to remember that all of this suffering now if for a good cause...you! posted by anonymous

Paradise...
Just kidding. My life at this moment is the furthest thing from paradise. I am six months pregnant and have a nasty head cold. I am sneezing, sniffling, and coughing up a storm. I am really not fit for human interaction, but like a fool I am at work today. Me and my trusty box of kleenex are toughing it out so I can get some important projects done. Tomorrow I think I am going to call in sick and try to sleep (haven't done that in days). To make matters worse there is a big storm moving in and I took the train today. I'll have to stand in the rain to wait for the train and with the wind my umbrella will be useless. Oh I should have stayed home. Ahhh Chooo!!!
By the way I am loving my Cold-Eeze gum. I was skeptical at first, but it really tastes good. posted by anonymous

Thanks Daddy!
Well it seems that I am coming down with the cold Daddy had last weekend. He of course was cured quickly with the help of many cold medications. I on the other hand am going to be stuck with little help or relief from this condition. The weird thing is I feel okay except for a nasty cough and occasional nose congestion (had that since I got pregnant). I have been fighting this thing since I first felt it coming on. I've been drinking tons of water, resting, taking vitamins, and sucking on Cold-eeze all day long. Maybe its the Cold-eeze thats making the symptoms more bearable. Regardless, tonight is my work Holiday party and Daddy is going to go with me. Hopefully I'll feel well enough to have a good time. As for you little man I wish you would move around some more. Yesterday I barely felt you (even after running to catch the train) and I've only had a few kicks so far today. Its too soon to start worrying your mother like this. Do a little dance please. posted by anonymous

Making Progress
Yesterday we hit the 26 weeks milestone and in less than one week we'll be in our third trimester. I can't believe how quickly time is going by. Over the weekend I was able to get my ankle swelling under control and as soon as I got back to work they puffed right back up (even with keeping them elevated on a chair under my desk). Last night I returned to bed rest and it really seems to help, though come morning they puff right back up...grrr!! I have my monthly doctor appointment next week and I am going to have the midwife check them again and see whats the next step.
I am also perplexed trying to figure out your movement patterns. I know you like to sleep in the afternoon when I am at work and wake up in time for evening TV. Yesterday you didn't move around very much at all and I was getting kinda concerned. However, this morning I sat down to watch some TV and you were kicking me in two places at once (making up for lost time I presume). I can't wait until I can actually see you moving around in there thats going to be so exciting. I'm really starting to get used to feeling you squirm around and will miss this feeling after you are born (though I can't wait to have you in my arms). Only 10-16 weeks until we meet you little man....yay!!! posted by anonymous

Time Is Tick Tocking Away
I just checked my pregnancy calendar at AmazingPregnancy.com and it says that as of today 167 days have passed and only 99 remain. We are officially in double digits. I guess that means the count down is on soon. Also, one week until I start the third (and final) trimester. Woo hoo a light at the end of the tunnel. This pregnancy thing isn't fun anymore. I just want to meet you already. posted by anonymous

Thank You Baby
Last night Daddy and I were lying in bed watching TV and you were on the move. I grabbed Daddys hand and put it on my belly and for the first time he actually felt you move. I don't think it was quite what he was expecting because he asked if I had gas, but he definately felt you move. I have been waiting so long for that moment. Thank you for allowing it to happen.
On a more painful note my sciatica pain has been coming back. Last night I had a hard time waddling down the hall between the sciatica (lower back and right butt cheek) pain, heel pain, and my ankles. Fortunately this morning I am feeling good and am mobile so far. Speaking of my ankles this bedrest stuff works. By Sunday morning they were down to 9 inches around (from 10.5 inches on Wednesday). Daddy and I went on errands yesterday and I learned that I am really limited on what I can physically do. I get sore and tired really fast. This will take some getting used to.
Last but not least Daddy and I have made plans to go to San Diego (thank you Grandma & Grandpa C) in January to visit Renee & Tim (your future girlfriends parents). We haven't seen each other since we both got pregnant and I think it will be fun to compare bellys (and aches). The only part of the trip I am not so excited about is the long car ride. I hate car trips.
The good news is that you are growing like a champ. According to the ultrasound yesterday with the Perinatologist you weigh nearly 2lbs (1lb 14oz) and for the third time we were told you are definately a boy (I have a picture to prove it). Your heart seems to be working perfectly and your heart rythm is totally normal. You are no longer in the breech position and seem to be right on target for 25 weeks in all aspects.
Now for the bad news. I asked the doctor about my swollen ankles and it seems to have her very concerned. Apparently swelling like this is not common until later in pregnancy. She wanted to take me out of work for a few days to be on complete bedrest, but I have no sick time left this year and can't afford to be out. We compromised and I was given a list of restrictions and instructions. When I am at home I am to be in bed with my feet up resting. If I see any change (for the worse) Daddy will have to take me directly to Labor & Delivery at the hospital. I am hoping that home treatment will make the swelling go down, but just in case I have a call in to my HR rep here at work to find out how it works if I am put on bedrest. It's amazing just two days ago I was joking around about how great bedrest would be and now that I am actually facing it I am depressed. I don't want to be restricted, but I have to put your needs first. Hopefully we can get this swelling down soon. posted by anonymous

How Rude
Tonight on the way home from work the train was overly crowded and for the first time I was not able to find a seat to sit on. I could not believe that there I was 25 weeks pregnant and not a single person offered me a seat. I had to stand for two stations until a seat opened up. I honestly thought that people are supposed to be more compassionate to us prego folks. I guess I was wrong. How disappointing is that. posted by anonymous
