Starting Week 12 & The Secret Is Out

Eleven weeks down and twenty nine left to go. Here is what is happening with baby this week according to Baby Center. There sure is a lot of growing going on. Also this milestone means the end of being an embryo and the start of being a fetus.

Yesterday I told everyone (well almost everyone) at work about you. I was so surprised how supportive everyone is. I can't wait to tell our family and friends this weekend.

I Got To See You Today

I went to the doctor this morning and she gave me a quick ultrasound to see how you are doing in there. You were so cute jumping up and down and waving at us. Everytime I laughed you went crazy, it was so fun. The doctor also said all of my bloodwork came back great and so far so good. I'm feeling pretty good, though I do have moments where I just want to curl up and sleep for a day or two. I can't wait to meet you in March.

Talk About Benefits

I went to a seminar today to learn about my benefits while on maternity leave. As I suspected our beneifts rock!!! I will get up to 12 weeks at full pay (depending on how long my dosctor has me on disability). I know the job I was at before this one didn't pay a dime for maternity leave so I am really grateful for what I am getting. If everything goes as I would like (in my perfect dream world) my break would be something like this....4 weeks before EDD start disability leave (two weeks full pay / two weeks 60% pay), 6 weeks disability after birth with full pay, 4 weeks bonding leave (after end of disability) with full pay. That would bring us to 3.5 months and it would be 4 months even if I have a c-section (you get 8 weeks instead of 6). My job is guaranteed for 4 months so I would be returning just in time. Sounds like a plan to me. I'll return to work just as the kids are all getting out of school for the summer and traffic is lighter...nice!!!

Just About 25% Finished

I am officially 10 weeks pregnant today (meaning you have been growing for 8 weeks now). We are nearing the end of the first trimester and plan to announce your upcoming arrival to the world within the next couple weeks (Grandma & Grandpa can't wait). This is what is going on with you as we enter week 11 according to Baby Center. You're moving around a lot in there, though you aren't big enough for me to feel anything yet. We go for our first "official" doctor appointment next Monday and hopefully we'll get to heart your beautiful heartbeat. I am so excited!

Picture Day

You gave me quite a scare yesterday. I started spotting and having mild cramps with back pain. I literally freaked out to the point of not sleeping last night. This morning first thing I called my doctor and she told me to come in and get checked out. By 11am I was at the hospital getting our first ultrasound (I was sad daddy missed it). You are looking healthy and meansuring at 8w6d, though the doctor said to stick with my 9w1d timeline for now (a difference of only 2 days). Most people say their little babies look like peanuts this early on, but I seriously think you look just like a chicken nugget. Grandpa is hooking me up with a flatbed scanner so I will post the picture soon.

I've Got A Bad Taste In My Mouth

For some reason you don't like the taste of anything I eat and I am stuck with a nasty aftertaste in my mouth. I have discovered that gum does not help the situation and the only resolution is Scope. The minty freshness of mouthwash makes me feel human again.

More Exciting News

Congratulations to Oscar & Stacy on the upcoming arrival of their second little bundle (due not long after you) of joy. The funny thing about this news is that I had a dream last Wednesday night that Stacy was pregnant. It seemed so real that I mentioned it to Grandpa and Auntie Steph at dinner on Thursday night. These crazy pregnancy dreams have made me a psychic of sorts.

What A Weekend

Last night daddy was home suffering from sympathy morning sickness. Poor guy had a headache and the nausea. I really felt for him. Fortunately, I was feeling pretty good so I was able to go close the shop while he was at home miserable.

Then came today. I have had the WORST headache for hours. The kind that makes you think your head is going to explode every time you sneeze. I checked the list of approved medicines the doctor gave me and decided to take some Tylenol. Sure enough the only bottle I could find was brand new and it took me 20 minutes to get the darn thing open. I am feeling a bit better now, but not much. Also, my nose has been so congested lately. I can't think when the last time I was able to breathe freely was. And have I ever been thirsty. I think I drank a gallon of water today. I haven't been peeing to show for this, nope instead I am nice and bloated. Super!

It's Official...I've Decided I Don't Like Needles

This morning I went to get tested for Tay-Sachs disease. It is a diesease that is predominant in the Jewish community and if both parents are carriers it can be fatal for the baby. I was tested first, if I am a carrier daddy will go and get tested too. The nurse took two tubes of blood from me making the grand total of blood drawn in the past week EIGHT tubes. Do I have any blood left?

This morning I told the nurse that I don't have any veins in my arms and that there is a nice plump one on my wrist. Well this woman was on a mission to find a vein on my arm. She was successful in her mission. Apparently I have one horizontal vein on my right arm. Let's just say the after effects of having blood drawn on your write are mush less painful than in the arm. I can barely bend and move my arm now. Ouch!!!!!
