Happy Birthday To Me

It is now officially my 30th birthday. You may wonder how I have the stamina to be up at 2:30am while 24 weeks pregnant. The answer is I don't have the stamina. This is the third night in a row you my little man decided I should be awake and out in cyber space during the wee hours of the morning. Its cute now, but come Sunday night I won't be laughing as much...catch my drift.

Another Interesting Labor Prediction Tidbit

I bought my 2003 wall calendar this weekend and just noticed that my due date (03/18/03) happens to be a full moon. For some reason more women go into labor during a full moon than any other time of the month. There is a really good chance fo you arriving right on schedule. Just in case you choose the February full moon that would be 02/16/03 (cousin Michele's 30th birthday). We'll have to wait and see what really happens though.

Oh another thing I noticed on my new calendar. Looks like Valentines Day will likely be my last day at work. The day before I am scheduled to start my leave happens to be a holiday. Only 2.5 months left until 3+ months off....WOOO HOOO!!

I think I am going to wake Daddy up so he can make us some breakfast. If I stay on the computer much longer who knows what other useless information I'll uncover.

Now The Weatherman Can Predict Labor

I was cruising around the boards at The Labor Of Love and found this map showing which areas of the country have a higher chance of labor occuring in the general population. I don't know if there is any proven scientific evidence behind this, but I thought it was interesting enough to share. Enjoy!

And There Was Light

The electrician came today and installed the new light fixture in your bedroom. I must say little man that you are going to be living in style. Thanks to Grandma & Grandpa C for having the work done. We really appreciate it.

On another note you have been a very active boy today. I was driving to the salon to get my nails done and Metallica came on the radio. You were dancing like a madman. You are definately your fathers son.

Your Personality Is Already Shining Through

I have come to realize that you really don't like anything pressed against Mommy's belly. First at the ultrasound a couple weeks ago you punched and kicked the whole time trying to know the wand off my belly, then whenever Daddy tries to feel you move you stop while his hand is on my belly. Last night you proved once again that you hate anything in your way. I bought a Bebe Sounds Monitor and was trying it out. Every time I got in your way you'd give me a good kick. I haven't felt kicks like that from you before. It was quite funny.

I Have A Girlfriend For You

I just got a call from Renee down in San Diego. They had their ultrasound today and it looks like they are having a little girl. This could be fate, she could be your future wife (talk about your mother planning ahead). Anyway congrats to Renee & Tim on their little daughter. Its nice to see some girls coming into this sea of boys.

Just Came Back From The Doctor

I just got back from my monthly appointment. This time I met with a really nice midwife who answered a lot of my questions. So far everything is going great. I have gained about 10 pounds since August which they seem to be happy with. I spoke to her about the horrible pain in my right heel and unfortunately there was nothing she could do. She thinks it is temporary due to the pressure of the pregnancy. She also said that the hospitals policy is to pull patients out of work 4 weeks before your due date. Anything sooner would be based on medical need, so if I experience any early contractions I should go in and have that checked out and noted. Oh what I would do for 6 weeks off before you are due to arrive. While I was there I also signed Daddy & I up for Expectant Parent classes and a tour of Labor & Delivery. Come the end of January everything is going to start being so real, I'm very excited.

Also at the end of Janauary / early February we have some wonderful friends who are planning not one, but two baby showers for us. I can't wait!

I Know What You Like

I just came back from a client lunch where we had Chinese food. I have to say that since I ate that meal I am feeling more movement from you that I have thus far. Its amazing. I hope you keep it up tonight and give me some strong kicks so Daddy can finally feel you. He tries so hard to feel you wiggling around, but everytime you stop moving. Just let him feel you at least once...please.

On another note we are officially 23 week along today, only approx. 17 weeks left until we finally get to meet you. Yay!!!

Oh I called the electrician and he's coming to install the light in your room on Saturday. Now if we could only find someone to paint then we're in good shape.

This Weekend Was All About You Little Man

Daddy and I were very busy (and productive) this weekend getting ready for your arrival. We bought a light fixture for your bedroom and I am going to call the electrician tomorrow to set up a time for him to come out. We also had Grandma & Grandpa C over to help move the futo to the loft and go threw boxes. Your room looks so empty now with the furniture coming out. We also go paint samples so we can decide which color to go with. I know we are going with blue pain and green curtains, but we want to pick something that matches your bedding.

Today we went to the outlet mall and shopped for all sorts of goodies. I bought some clothes for me and everything else was for you. I got the cutest little pair of jeans for you which will go perfect with the Old Navy shirt we got last week. My favorite purchase for the days was an adorable bib I picked up at Big Dogs. I have to admit I am addicted to shopping for you. I can't wait until you are here to wear all the cute clothes I have bought for you.

Oh My Aching Feet

Yesterday my feet swelled quite a bit (my poor toes looked like sausages) and I thought I would be proactive and today I wore my new "support socks" Grandma C bought me. All I can say is my feet are killing me today. I can't wait to go home kick my shoes off and air the poor guys out. I don't know if the pain is from the swelling or the socks, but yikes!!! I've upped my water intake since it is supposed to help eleveate some of this discomfort, but so far it has only made for additional trips to the bathroom.

On the more relaxing less stress front I started taking the Metrolink commuter train to and from work each day. It still takes about an hour each way, but it is so much more relaxing to not have to drive myself. I can chat with other people, read a book, or even take a (much needed) nap. We are lucky that the train station is only one mile from our house so I am home within minutes of the train arriving at night. I'll admit I am getting spoiled.

Last but not least I have good news, Daddy got a job. He is going to have a heck of a commute to the Westside each day, but he will be working. He is going to try taking the commuter bus into the city so hopefully the commute won't be too bad. On the days he does drive I'm sure he'll go and spend some quality time with Grandma & Grandpa K since they live not far from where he will be working. I'm just happy that he will have a job to go to everyday, I think he was going nutty being at home all the time.

Putting Your Poop To Good Use

The city has become famous this week due to a new pilot program to recycle stinky diapers. The story even made from page on Yahoo! which is actually shocking to me. I know my neighbor is in the program now (I saw her on the news Friday). If it is successful the full scale recycling program will begin just in time for you to start contributing. I think its a cool program, though I'm not too jazzed about our towns claim to fame being a dirty diaper recycling program.

I Get To See You Again

Grandma C and I went to my Perinatologist appointment yesterday. You were not in the mood to coorperate. You kept trying to kick the scanner off of my belly and then turned your back so the doctor couldn't get a good look at your heart. The end result of this is that I have to go back for another ultrasound in four weeks. I feel so lucky that I get to have three Level II ultrasounds while most people only get one. The doctor we saw yesterday was able to confirm that you are definately a boy and you are growing right on target for your due date. Everything looks good and all of our testing is more as a precautionary measure.

I got a call this morning when I got to work from Grandma C, she said that your Great Grandma was not feeling good last night and was rushed to the hospital. She is stable now and they are monitoring her, but don't know what is wrong just yet. I'm going to go see her after work tonight. I hope she is feeling better soon.

I Get To See You Again Today

Today officially starts week 22. I can't believe how quickly time is going. I signed up for a Newborn Care class here at work yesterday and found out that if I don't take it now the next time they will offer the class I will be out on maternity leave already. Only three months until my leave begins (hopefully)...yay!!!

This afternoon I am taking Grandma C and we are going to see the Perinatalogist. The doctor is going to take a close look at your little heart to make sure you don't have any of the defects Uncle Michael had. I don't think they are going to find anything wrong and it will just be a wonderful chance for Mommy and Grandma to see you.

One last thought for right now. Yesterday you were very very active. At one point I was sitting at my desk working and all of a sudden you kicked (or punched) me so hard I jumped. That made me laugh. I hope you are as active at our appointment today, you didn't move around too much at our last ultrasound.

Half Baked (For Real This Time)

According to my pregnancy calendar at Amazing Pregnancy I am 50% through this pregnancy. Only 50% left to go. I am starting to feel the effects of it too. I can't really handle long car trips (even to work) and have to pee ALL the time. I am going to look into taking the train to work for the next few months because the commute is killing me. I am exhausted by the time I get to the office and at the end of the week I can barely function. If its this bad at 21 weeks I can't imagine what it will be like at 31 weeks...yikes!

Today Was All About You Baby

Daddy and I set off on an adventure this morning to buy you a crib. After hitting two baby stores we decided on this one. We didn't buy it at that store online, I just couldn't find any other pictures of it. Originally we planned on getting a white crib for your room, but this crib the the most durable in our price range and only came in a natural beechwood color. I hope you won't mind a variety of woods in your room. We also bought bedding for your crib. After hours of debating we decided on this set. We bought the crib set today and brought it home with us. The crib is going to take 8 -12 weeks though. Hopefully we'll have your room painted and ready by the time it comes.
